To our dearest students of Hogwarts,

We hope all of you had a very frosty Christmas reading our Winter Edition have come back feeling rejuvenated for the second semester! It has certainly been a long, dreadful two months without the aid of your favorite newspaper The Eagle Edition. Semester 1 report cards may have been a grim defeat, although hopefully no one got a Troll or has to take remedial classes. But fret not, us nitwits from The Eagle Edition are here with you, always. It feels like just yesterday we were prancing around on the yellow brick road with our friends Glinda, Elphaba, and Boq; but now, be prepared as we enter a whole new world of witchcraft and wizardry.

As you read the Daily Prophet, be on the lookout for opinion pieces in The Quibbler, games and puzzles at the back, and more blubber! You’ll find pieces such as an update from the 11th graders on the DP (they definitely don’t like unfoggging the future), how Draco Malfoy has become the mascot for Chinese New Year, and an introduction to the broadway rendition of the Cursed Child coming to Atlanta. You’ll also find recipes for some “vairy délicieux” macarons and Butterbeer that tastes just like Madame Rosmerta’s, and a retrospective of Stranger Things: Season 5, Byler, and Conformity Gate!

We want to give a big thank you to our amazing staff, who wouldn’t be caught dead with a Quick Quotes Quill. Even during the hectic month of January, our reporters, photographers, editors, and Gael worked around the clock removing oddments of drafts, with our editors-in-chief working nocturnally to get this edition out. Sometimes, we wish we had timeturners. We hope you enjoy this February issue of The Eagle Edition as much as the staff did while making it!

In light of the new semester, the editors-in-chief would like to share a few words of wisdom: Remember to seize control of your grades for the greater good so you don’t tweak out and keep your shoelaces tied as you move through the stairs—you never know when they might decide to move. Try to make sure your bag doesn’t fall apart from all the books you’re carrying, but remember if you fail your classes you can always follow in Hagrid's footsteps and become the groundskeeper.

As the seniors prepare for their N.E.W.T.S and DP students are fighting for off-campus privileges with the lost-OCP liberation front, we can say that this is truly becoming the most hectic time of year. Finally just remember to take a breath, drink some Felix, add a few more inches to your essays, and do something fun! We hope you had better luck under the mistletoe at the Sweetheart Soirée. Make sure to set aside time to hang out with friends in the common rooms, and of course, read lots and lots of The Eagle Edition!

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle

 Editors-in-Chief
