This year’s Georgia Tech Model United Nations (GT MUN) conference was an exciting event, bringing together hundreds of passionate delegates from schools across the region to engage in diplomatic debates and collaborative diplomacy. From tackling pressing global issues to handling fictional crises, the conference offered an unforgettable experience that deepened participants' understanding of global governance and negotiation.
Delegates had the opportunity to participate in a range of committees, each focused on addressing some of today’s most complex global challenges. Topics included the hosting burdens created by the global rise in displaced persons, strategies for mitigating attacks on international commerce during regional conflicts, facilitating access to climate change mitigation technologies for vulnerable nations and so much more. These committees encouraged delegates to think critically, negotiate diplomatically, and find innovative solutions to issues that affect millions worldwide.

Adding to the excitement, the conference featured Crisis Committees that plunged delegates into fast-paced, fictional scenarios requiring quick thinking and creative strategy. In the Hutt Crime Syndicate committee, delegates stepped into the universe of Star Wars, navigating the notorious underworld of galactic politics. Meanwhile, the Joint Crisis Committee on ancient Athens and Sparta challenged delegates to strategize through the historical conflict between the two powerful city-states, balancing alliances and rivalries in a race against time.
A special congratulations goes to Patricia Canovas, who was awarded Best Delegate, and to Kathryn Franz, who received Outstanding Delegate, for their exceptional performance and leadership throughout the conference.
